Does a black screen save battery?
On OLED and AMOLED displays, yes — black pixels are physically off, so a fullscreen black page draws noticeably less power. On regular LCDs the backlight stays on, so savings are minimal.
Will my computer go to sleep with the black screen on?
The page does not change your power settings. If you want the machine to stay awake, disable sleep in your OS — the black screen simply gives you darkness while it runs.
