Why is red light better at night?
The eye's rod cells, responsible for night vision, are least sensitive to long red wavelengths. Red light lets you see what you are doing without bleaching the rods, so your dark adaptation survives.
Can a red screen fix dead pixels?
It can help with stuck pixels (stuck on one color), which sometimes respond to rapid color cycling. Truly dead pixels (always black) are a hardware fault and cannot be fixed by software.
